My Favourite Sweet Treat

I don't know what this is called, or if it has a name, it is delicious.

First, you have to make some sticky rice. Measure 1/3 the amount of rice you'd like to have when you're done (ex: if you want three cups, measure out one cup). Wash the rice, and then strain it. Repeat this step three times. Then, put the rice in a pan. Put the tip of your first finger on top of the rice. Put water up to the first knuckle on that finger. Then, cover the rice. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNCOVER IT UNTIL I TELL YOU TO. Boil it. Once it is boiling, turn it to low. Let it cook on low for 45 minutes. Then, remove it from the stovetop. DO NOT TAKE OFF THE COVER. Wait 15 minutes. Now you can take off the cover.

Next, you have to make some an-ko. This is a little more time consuming, so I recommend making a big batch and eating it over the course of a few days. Buy some azuki (or aduki, depending on where you live) beans at your local food store. You're more likely to find them at a health food store. They are small and red.
Put 1 cup of the beans in a pan, and put enough water to cover them. Cover the pan, and boil. Drain the water. Put three cups of water in the pan, and put the beans in. Leave to soak overnight (this is the part that takes a long time).
24 Hours Later.... Cover the pan with the beans and the water. Boil the water. Then, half cover it, put it on low, and simmer it for about an hour. When most of the water is absorbed and the beans are really soft, add 1 cup sugar. Mix the two together with a spoon. Then, use a potato masher to make the beans as smooth as possible.

Put some rice in a bowl. Put some of the bean mash on top of the rice. Enjoy. It is seriously much more delicious than it looks.

Movies You Should Go Rent Right Now

1) Dead Again (1991)- The Kenneth Branagh movie which almost no one has seen but everyone should. It's a classic film noir story- a mute woman (Emma Thompson) is taken in by a convent, and the nuns ask private detective Mike (Kenneth Branagh) to figure out who she is. The man most willing to help (Derek Jacobi, people. Derek f**king Jacobi!) is a hypnotist who claims he can see into her past life, scenes of which are shot in black and white and sprinkled throughout the film. Basically, I can't do it justice, but it's incredibly exciting, well acted, and well done. Rent it now.

2) Repo Man (1984)- I have heard multiple people call this cult classic a "date test movie," as in, if the girl (or guy) doesn't laugh at the right parts or think it's funny, they're clearly not the person for them. So, if you don't get the context for the phrase "Plate o' shrimp" and "Let's go eat sushi and not pay" means nothing to you, it's time you rent it. There are aliens. And cars. And a really, really awesome soundtrack. Emilio Estevez is in it!

3) Brick (2005)- Amazingly good plot, hot guys, great dialogue... this movie has it all. It's another film noir, only set in a highschool. It surrounds a brick of an unnamed over which the main character (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt)'s ex-girlfriend was killed. As he attempts to figure out who her murderer was, his own history come into light. It's really fascinating, and might even take two watches to understand fully.

4) Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (2001)- It is not a porno, but it does have lesbian vampires. And Jesus gets a makeover. Probably not a great movie to watch if you're concerned for your soul.

That's it for now folks. I'll be back with more at a later date.

A Book You Should Read

I cannot recommend enough the book "The Elegant Universe". If you like physics, or math, or the world you live, or basically anything, for the love of God get reading. It's about string theory, and it explains it using very basic examples, so even if you're not really good at getting science you will probably understand most of it. Or at least bits. I only understood about three quarters of it, but it's fun and brilliant.
You can get it here, and you can probably check it out at your library, unless the local library sucks like mine does.

Also to be noted

I'm going to try to post more regularly now. Sometimes there will be a comic, sometimes there will be a review of a cd, book, or movie, and sometimes there will be General Whining. I am a teenager, after all.
So, if anyone actually manages to find this happy little oasis, keep me to my word.

So, here is a comic, special for you.
